What is Messy Church?

Messy Church is a form of church for children and adults that involves creativity, celebration and hospitality. It’s primarily for people who don’t already belong to another form of church. It meets at a time and a place that suits people who don’t already belong to church.

What do we do at Messy Church?

Thank you to everyone who came to our Messy Christmas .  We had such a wonderful time. Everyone enjoyed a wide variety of Christmas crafts, including decorating angel cakes, making woolly sheep, and creating paper plate angels. During the afternoon, everyone also made a Christingle.

At the end of the session, Rev Linda told us the story of the first Christmas: Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem, and how they spent the night in a stable where Jesus, the Son of God, was born. We ended the session by lighting our Christingles while singing Away in a Manger. We then held our Christingles high as we sang Shine Jesus Shine, reminding us that we are called – to shine our lights for Jesus by sharing His love with everyone we meet.

A big thank you to all the leaders and helpers who gave so much time and effort to make this event such a success. We would like to thank Tesco in Carnforth for generously donating the oranges for the Christingles and also all those who contributed to the collection for the Children’s Society.

Our next Messy Church will be on Sunday 15th February from 4–6pm.
